Water Collection and Usage

Our objective is to make the whole Courthouse and its gardens fully sustainable in water usage by :-

  1. Collecting rainwater from the roof of the Courthouse.

  2. Storing the collected rainwater in a tank.

  3. Locating the tank below ground-level to devote as much of the area as possible to the gardens.

  4. Providing a header tank to create pressure for distribution.  Water will be pumped to the header tank using solar-generated energy.

In addition to collecting and using rainwater our objectives include the ability to monitor the collection and usage of the water in our central computer system.  We will measure :-

  1. Rainfall - measured on a daily basis.

  2. Water collected in litres.

  3. Main Water Tank level.

  4. Water used in litres by :-

    1. The Main Garden.

    2. The Xeriscape Garden.

    3. The Kitchen.

    4. The Toilets.
